Working for all children
Putting My Experience
I am a Hinsdale resident and mother of six children: two 2020 graduates of and a junior at University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana (UIUC), a senior at Hinsdale Central High School, a 7th grader at Hinsdale Middle School and a 5th grader at Madison School. My husband and I have had children in D181 schools for the last 18 years.
I grew up in Door County, Wisconsin, the eldest of six children, where I learned a strong work ethic and the value of community service. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Chicago and a Masters of Public Health from the University of Illinois at Chicago. I also completed additional post-baccalaureate work at Loyola University of Chicago in the basic sciences.
WHY AM I RUNNING FOR THE COMMUNITY CONSOLIDATED D181 BOARD OF EDUCATION
I am passionate about children and giving them the best opportunities to reach their maximum potential. I believe that every child develops in their own time. As a parent of current D181 students as well as older students who are navigating high school, college and work in these unique times, I will bring a unique perspective to the D181 board. I understand how the work of D181 fits into a child’s future success.
I am running for the Board of Education to bring a voice that cares for our community with experience. My goal as a board member is to be fiscally responsible, data driven and curriculum focused. I know that I must be responsive and receptive to the needs of parents, staff, students and the community at large. We all have the same goal -- to see each child reach their maximum potential. I believe that I have the temperament and thoughtfulness to listen to the concerns of all in our community and the ability to work towards a consensus that meets the majority of needs. I have the willingness to ask questions, including questions that may be outside the box. It is out of the box thinking that in some instances can help move toward new solutions.
Our family has benefited from the work of D181 for many years. I am at a point where I am now able to give back to a District that has done so much for our children.
